A Little Bit About Rock Creek Gallery
If you do a Google (or Yahoo, or whatever) search for Rock Creek Gallery, you will get a lot of responses. So, in a sense, this is just one of many, but, I would like to hope, it is also unique. Rock-Creek-Gallery.com is of course unique. Just a small on-line gallery where you can enjoy viewing some nice digital pictures. My plan is to rotate them over time, and to keep just a select few available at a time for your viewing pleasure. The Rock Creek for which this gallery is named is a camping and hiking area 22 miles North of Bishop, California, on Highway 395. I have been there a number of times, and many of my photographs were taken in the area.
I have created two ways to view the gallery's pictures: as a slideshow, and as a thumbnail viewer. The slideshow presents each picture in turn, placed on the gallery's viewing wall. The thumbnail viewer arranges all of the pictures as thumbnails, with the selected picture centered, and enlarged. If you are interested in viewing any of the thumbnails, just click the mouse over that thumbnail and it will replace the currently enlarged picture..
In addition to merely viewing these pictures, I offer several options to download them. There is a free 640 x 480 version of each picture contained in a zip file. Or, for a modest fee, payable via either Paypal or credit card you may purchase a set of wallpaper images in three popular sizes that you can install in your computer. The resolution of these images is 72 dots per inch, quite sufficient for a computer display but inadequate for any but the smallest print. You may also purchase a larger image at a resolution of 300 dots per inch, suitable for a photo-quality print at 8.5 x 11 inches.
Digital images are quite large, the smaller wallpaper sets are around 1.4 megabytes in size, while the larger 8.5 x 11 images are around 5 to 6 megabytes in size. For this reason, if you are on a dial-up connection you should consider the download time before making a purchase ... it might tie up your computer for up to an hour for a larger image. Even so, I think that if you shop around, you will see that an 8.5 x 11 photo usually goes for a lot more than what I am asking, so perhaps the wait is worth it.
I have to admit, that I also had an ulterior motive in providing this text page for you to read. I know that for dial-up, it takes a while to load the pages for the first time, so I provided this reading material for you to pass the time. Hopefully, the page had time to load while you were reading this. If you don't have caching turned off in your browser, the next time should be a lot faster (and I do hope you will return ... so maybe you should bookmark the site while you are thinking about it.)
Best wishes, now check and see if the page has completed loading.
